As a writer with foreign-born parents, I'm used to tough crowds.
My mom's usual response to my work is “Why is this funny?”

I was a stand-up comic for four years and produced my own comedy show called Mail Time. My mom came once. She asked the same question.

In recent years I have overcome my fear of cats.

But you would too if your girlfriend had four of them.

I love books! My go-to icebreaker is "You like books?" If so, a great conversation is bound to follow. If not, I'll probably ask if you like baseball.
